Pregnancy loss can have a devastating effect on parents; one moment you are planning for a future with a new baby and the next you are struggling to come to terms with your loss. It can also be difficult for family and friends who may be unsure of how to help, or worried that they may say the wrong thing.
Everyone is individual in how they experience grief and for how long; however, a woman who has miscarried may experience swings of emotion, with hormonal changes in her body intensifying her natural sadness.
In many cases there is no explanation as to why a miscarriage occurred, so talking to someone can help those who are struggling with grief to come to terms with their loss.
In acknowledging the importance of all pregnant women and their babies, Pregnancy Counselling and Support provides counselling, physical assistance, moral support and information to women in need, and their families, in a caring, accepting environment.
